The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the European Union (EU) signed on Monday the Comprehensive Air Transport Agreement, touting it as the "world’s first bloc-to-bloc" air transport deal.
According to the joint statement, the agreement should provide greater opportunities for airlines from both blocs to operate passenger and cargo services. It also promises passengers "a greater variety of destinations, more flight frequencies, and more travel options between South-East Asia and Europe."
