The Belgian Presidency of the European Union announced on Wednesday that the members' ambassadors within the bloc agreed "in principle" on the new package of sanctions against Russia.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcomed the move, tweeting that "[w]e must keep degrading [Russian head of state Vladimir] Putin's war machine. With 2000 listings in total, we keep the pressure high on the Kremlin. We are also further cutting Russia's access to drones."
