The European Commission authorized on Wednesday Nokia Corp.'s acquisition of Infinera Corp. for $2.3 billion. Nokia announced the deal in June, saying the acquisition will strengthen its optical networks division.
The Commission concluded the proposed acquisition does not raise competition concerns in the European Economic Area. The Commission's investigation found that the companies have a "moderate" market share in the supply of optical transport equipment and that they have several "credible" competitors.
