The European Council adopted on Thursday further sanctions on Belarus which aim to align the European Union's sanctions against Russia with those against Belarus. The EU aims to prevent Russia from circumventing its sanctions through Belarus, the European Commission said.
The new measures target a "number of highly sensitive goods and technologies which contribute to Belarus's military and technological enhancement." The Council also approved additional bans on the export of firearms and ammunition and goods and technology suited for use in aviation and the space industry.
