European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Monday the negotiations over the European Union's recovery fund are "moving in the right direction" although they are "not there yet."
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte all expressed their satisfaction with the progress of the discussion. On the other hand, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, and Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, among others, warned a deal might not be reached.
The talks over the package, allocated to combating the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, are entering their fourth day, as the European Council failed to reach a final agreement in the previous 36 hours.
