European Union leaders are supposedly planning to travel to Beijing in late July for a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, the South China Morning Post reported, citing five sources familiar with the plans.
European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen are set to make the trip due to Xi's "reluctance" to visit Brussels, the newspaper said.
Since the previous summit also took place in China, the EU's plan to repeat the visit marks a departure from standard practice, as the hosting location is meant to alternate between the two sides.
