EU reportedly to fine Apple over music streaming

The European Commission is about to fine Apple Inc. €500 million in an antitrust case concerning music streaming, the Financial Times (FT) reported on Sunday.

According to five people familiar with the matter, the institution found that Apple failed to inform its users of less expensive options for streaming outside its platform App Store. The commission seeks to determine if the company thus did not respect the rules of fair competition.

The sources added that the investigation's conclusion and the fine's announcement are planned for early next month.
