Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Friday that European Union leaders have agreed on a five-year timeline to develop full defense capabilities against a potential Russian threat.
The deal, finalized during an EU summit in Brussels, reflects growing concern over US commitment to Europe's security and Russia's military resurgence.
"Our position, shared with Denmark and Sweden, was that the more Russia has the advantage today, the more we have to hurry. We finally accepted, as the European Council, this commitment that by 2030, Europe must obtain full defense capabilities," Tusk said at a press conference.
