The European Commission will meet on June 17 to discuss the possibility of granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for the European Union, the institution's press representative Eric Mamer stated at a press conference on Thursday.

Mamer explained the College of Commissioners will have a special meeting on June 13 to discuss the topic and prepare it for an official presentation. The two summits will be held ahead of the European Council that will take place on June 23 and 24, where the decision will be formally discussed.

Earlier this week, the European Parliament voiced its support for giving Ukraine the status of a candidate.
