The European Commission announced on Tuesday it will mobilize €600 million for countries that are threatened by the food crisis aggravated by the conflict in Ukraine. The aid will go toward humanitarian assistance, sustainable production and macro-economic support for African, Caribbean and Pacific countries.
"Russia's war of aggression is taking a heavy and senseless toll, not only on the Ukrainian population, but also those most vulnerable around the world," Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said, adding that Russia is "still blocking millions of tonnes of desperately needed grain" that is not allowed to leave Ukrainian ports.
