The European Union emphasized its commitment to a two-state solution to resolving the Israeli–Palestinian conflict on Wednesday, following controversial remarks by US President Donald Trump about taking control of Gaza.
According to AFP, an EU spokesperson stated that Gaza remains an "integral part of a future Palestinian state" and reiterated that the two-state framework is the "only" viable path to lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
The statement came in response to Trump's proposal during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, suggesting the US could "take over" Gaza and displace Palestinians. The comments have drawn widespread international condemnation, with Hamas labeling them "racist."
