European Union's foreign policy chief Josep Borrell spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian ahead of the next round of talks on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iran nuclear deal. Borrell stated that he "conveyed a sense of urgency: we need to advance much quicker in the negotiations to restore the deal."

The negotiations will resume in Vienna on Thursday. Amir-Abdollahian previously stated a deal is "within reach if the West shows good will." He added Iran is looking for "rational, sober and result-oriented dialogue," adding that the removal of sanctions is a "fundamental priority."
