Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and United States President Joe Biden held a phone call on Tuesday, discussing the ongoing efforts by their two countries and Qatar to mediate a deal that would lead to a ceasefire in Gaza, according to a statement from El-Sisi's presidential office.
The two leaders emphasized the importance of putting an end to the conflict and the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. Sisi and Biden also agreed to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and the United States.
