Egypt's Sisi pushes for rebuilding Gaza without displacing residents

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi (pictured) on Sunday said that Egypt is preparing a "comprehensive" plan to rebuild Gaza without displacing its residents, according to Turkey's Anadolu Agency.

He made the statement during a meeting in Cairo with Ronald Lauder, head of the World Jewish Congress. In the talks Sisi urged all parties to act responsibly to uphold the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, warning that further conflict would harm everyone. The Egyptian leader also reiterated that establishing a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders, is the only path to lasting peace.

This comes after United States President Donald Trump suggested to relocate Palestinians from Gaza, a plan rejected by many in the Arab world.
