Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed the importance of preserving the "safety" and "security" of navigation in the Red Sea following the recent rise in tensions in the Middle East, Egypt's Foreign Ministry revealed in a statement on Sunday following the ministers' meeting in Cairo.
The two foreign ministers also expressed concern over the potential spillover of the Gaza conflict to other parts of the region and called for joint efforts with the international community to stop the attacks in the Palestinian enclave and forced displacement of civilians from the Gaza Strip.
Yesterday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would not consider the war finished until it takes control of the Philadelphi Corridor, a 14-kilometer-long strip of land situated along the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.
