Egypt, Jordan and Iraq issued on Wednesday a joint statement condemning Israel's recent strikes on southern Lebanon. The countries' respective Foreign Ministries said Israel is "pushing the region towards all-out war."
The three countries held a meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday and concluded that stopping the "dangerous escalation" between Israel and Hezbollah "begins by halting Israel’s aggression in Gaza." Egypt is one of the mediators in the stalled negotiations between Israel and Hamas on a possible ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
