Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned on Tuesday Israel's resumption of strikes on the Gaza Strip, which killed hundreds of people.

In a statement, the ministry called on all parties to "exercise restraint," underlining that mediators need to be given a chance to "achieve a permanent ceasefire." Egypt stressed that instead of raising tensions in the region, all parties should be working toward restoring stability and truce.

Hamas officials previously mentioned that they were in contact with the mediators to "curb the aggression" of the Israeli forces.
