Epic Games sues Google, Samsung over app store

Epic Games announced on Monday that it is suing Google and Samsung, accusing the tech giants of illegal collusion to block competitors' app stores on Samsung's devices.

The video game company that made "Fortnite" claimed that Samsung is using an autoblocking feature in coordination with Google to block the app store that Epic Games recently launched and others like it by not allowing users to install apps from sources other than Google Play Store and Samsung Galaxy Store.

"This is a major global fight, which is ultimately for the right of consumers to get all the benefits of competition and choose freely who they want to do business with," Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney told reporters, stating that the claim will be filed in a United States federal court in California, but that he was prepared to expand the legal fight to Europe and Asia, as well.
