United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Tuesday while addressing Senate Foreign Relations Committee that "Ukrainians have won the battle for Kiev," further stating that during his visit "we saw mile after mile of the Ukrainian countryside, territory that just a couple of months ago the Russian government thought that it could seize in a matter of weeks, today firmly Ukraine’s."
Blinken shared that the US stays "aligned with Ukraine in what they say they need," adding that it will "send a funding supplemental request to Congress for Ukraine soon." Finally, the secretary of state added that the US is "sending diplomats back to Ukraine this week and they will begin to assess how we can most effectively and securely reopen the embassy in Kiev."
