Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan (pictured) plans to offer Russian President Vladimir Putin again his mediation in the Ukraine crisis, Ria Novosti reported Wednesday, citing a source familiar with the matter.
"In the coming year, President Erdogan intends to continue efforts to resume the negotiation process to achieve a ceasefire. Having the opportunity to negotiate with the two sides, the Turkish president intends to continue offering his mediation," the source said.
This is not the first time Turkey has tried to mediate the crisis. Already in July, Turkey, together with the United Nations, brokered the so-called grain deal. In addition, Turkey, a NATO member, hosted talks between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations earlier this year.
