Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that Gaza now lies in ruins, reduced to 50 million tons of rubble following continuous Israeli attacks. Speaking in Istanbul at a meeting of Parliaments in Support of Palestine, he described the humanitarian toll as catastrophic, as 60% of all Palestinians murdered were women and children.
Erdogan said recent strikes destroyed Gaza's last civilian areas and drinking water sources, while the "brutality and savagery of illegal Israeli settlers" have devastated the West Bank.
The Turkish leader called the Palestinian cause a universal fight for justice and dignity. He also mourned the deaths of hundreds of healthcare workers in the conflict. Erdogan emphasized that the Palestinian cause is a struggle "for dignity by people who have been subjected to all forms of oppression, barbarism, and massacre for nearly a century."
