Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan likened on Tuesday Israel's campaign in Gaza led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to a "mass murder network" that must be stopped.
Speaking during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Erdogan also accused Israel of conducting genocide and ethnic cleansing against Palestinians in Gaza under the pretense it is fighting Hamas. He also dismissed the countries supporting Netanyahu's government as complicit in those crimes. "What is happening in Palestine is an indication of a great moral collapse," he insisted.
Furthermore, Erdogan claimed that the UN as an institution is "also dying" and turning into a "dysfunctional" and "inactive" agency. He stressed that "international justice cannot be left in the will of five privileged member states" of the UN Security Council (UNSC), saying that the events in Gaza are the "most dramatic" example of that.
