Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan (pictured left) said on Thursday that Turkey will continue to support NATO's open door policy following the Vilnius summit, public broadcaster TRT reported. During the summit, he said his government will not be able to ratify Sweden's membership before October but that the parliament will treat it as a priority once it is back in session.

Erdogan thanked United States President Joe Biden (right) for his administration's statement that it is "dedicated to upholding our alliances" after the two leaders met in Vilnius. He said that the "creation of strong solutions, strengthening of ties will play a major role in establishing peace" in Ukraine and that Turkey will "maintain our constructive stance" as long as its "legitimate security concerns are taken into account."
