Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced plans to ensure security beyond Turkey's southern borders.
Speaking to the press, the leader said Ankara will "work to eliminate terrorism threats" from southern regions starting next year.
The statement follows Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov’s call for restraint in addressing issues in Syria. Earlier this week, Turkey announced plans to open a consulate in Aleppo and also confirmed the reopening of its embassy in Damascus.
