The second largest cryptocurrency in the world, Ethereum, rose by more than 2% on September 6, marking its highest level in more than a week, as the first stage of the Merge is taking place today. According to some experts, the value of this crypto will continue to expand as it approaches its long-awaited transition from the proof-of-work to the proof-of-stake method, an event considered by many as the most important one in the industry this year. The cryptocurrency is expected to become more environmentally friendly and faster at the same time when the transition is over.

Ethereum rose by 2.76% at 7:41 am CET, selling for $1,662.64. However, the largest cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, traded flat in the morning, marking a slight increase of 0.12% at 7:39 am CET to go for $19,812.282.
