Retail trade in the euro area expanded by 0.1% in November from the previous month, while the European Union saw a 0.2% jump in the reported month, Eurostat shared in its report on Thursday.
Compared to last year's period, retail trade in the Eurozone increased by 1.2%, whereas the bloc recorded a 1.5% annual growth. In November, retail sales volumes for food, drinks, and tobacco rose by 0.1% in the euro area, while adding 0.2% in the European Union. Meanwhile, sales of non-food products fell by 0.6% in the euro area and 0.4% in the EU.
Countries that recorded the largest month-on-month increases were Cyprus, where retail sales expanded by 2.3%, Bulgaria by 1.3%, and Denmark and Latvia both by 1.1%. On the other hand, retail sales in Belgium shrank the most, seeing a 2.4% dip, followed by Germany and Spain's contraction of 0.6%.
