Major European stock markets closed Wednesday's trading session with gains as investors digested the latest private sector activity reports from Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Eurozone. Additionally, the German Institute for Economic Research (Ifo) revised its forecast for the country's gross domestic product growth in 2024 from 0.9% to 0.7%.
The DAX was 1.60% higher at the close, with Siemens Energy soaring by 8.70%. The FTSE 100 added 0.57%, as Antofagasta plc surged by 5.51%. The CAC 40 gained 0.91%, while Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE improved by 2.85%. The Euro Stoxx 50 climbed 2.17%, with ASML Holding rising 8.76%.
The euro was up 0.50% against the dollar at 5:28 pm CET, trading at $1.09040. At the same time, the pound increased 0.50% compared to the greenback, to sell for $1.27491.
