Markets in Europe ended Monday's session with gains despite the European Commission lowering its growth forecast and raising inflation expectations. Investors geared up for a week packed with economic data reports, including inflation figures from the United States, and awaited the European Central Bank's interest rate decision scheduled for Thursday.
The Euro Stoxx 50 increased by 0.44% and the DAX rose 0.39%. The best performer on both indexes was Vonovia, whose shares rallied 4.21%.

The FTSE 100 added 0.25% with Fresnillo surging 4.62%.
The euro gained 0.40% against the dollar to sell for 1.07422 at 5:31 pm CET and the pound climbed 0.48% compared to the greenback to go for 1.25269 at the same time.
