Europe closes lower after data

Major stock market indexes in Europe closed lower on Wednesday after the United Kingdom, Germany, and the Eurozone all observed slowdowns in their services and manufacturing sector activity in June. The euro area also reported a fall in producer prices in May.

The DAX closed 0.70% or 111 points lower as Siemens Energy AG plunged by 5.64% at 5:36 pm CET. The FTSE 100 went down by 1.01%, with Ocado Group PLC plummeting by 6.86%. The CAC 40 decreased by 0.86% as AXA SA dropped by 3.24%. The Eurostoxx 50 declined by 0.98%, with Adyen NV sinking by 3.47%.

Both the euro and the pound sterling stood flat against the dollar at 5:28 pm CET to sell for $1.08747 and $1.27177, respectively.
