United States House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Saturday condemned fellow Republicans who opposed his initiatives and voted against the short-term funding compromise in the House.
"If you have members in your conference that won't let you vote for appropriation bills, doesn't want an omnibus and won't vote for a stopgap measure - so the only answer is to shut down and not pay our troops - I don't want to be a part of that team," CNN cited McCarthy as saying.
His comments come after the lower Congress approved a stopgap government spending bill, sending the measure to the Senate in order to keep the federal government funded until November 17.
