Europe mostly flat premarket ahead of ECB rate decision

Major European stock indexes were mostly flat in the premarket session on Thursday as investors awaited the European Central Bank (ECB) monetary policy decision, which should be released later in the day. In addition, the German Institute for Economic Research (Ifo) is expected to publish its report on business climate for January.

The DAX, the FTSE 100, and the CAC 40 were flat at 8:00 am CET. At the same time, the Euro Stoxx 50 lost 0.08%.

The euro was up 0.06% against the dollar at 7:58 am CET, trading at $1.08959. The British pound gained 0.07% compared to the greenback, selling for $1.27251.
