Major stock indexes on Wall Street pared losses from the opening bell on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones adding over 1,500 points, as a media report seemingly brought some positive energy to the markets. NPR previously said that the Trump administration put on hold its plans to impose restrictions on the sale of Nvidia's H20 chip, the most advanced semiconductor that United States businesses are permitted to sell to China.
The Dow Jones surged 4% or 1,501 points at 1:21 pm ET. A minute later, the Nasdaq 100 soared 5.26% or 870 points and the S&P 500 advanced by 3.87%. Nvidia's stock shot up 5.53% at 1:14 pm ET.
The euro gained 0.48% against the dollar at 1:08 pm ET, going for 1.10131.
