Major stock exchanges in Europe traded higher on Monday as investors awaited the meeting between United States President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, in hopes that the relations between the two countries would thaw. On the earnings front, RWE and Siemens will be revealing their financial results during the week.
The DAX rose 0.33% at the opening bell, with Siemens up 1.70% at 9:03 am CET. At 9:01 am CET, the CAC 40 added 0.35%, with Societe Generale up 1.11% a minute later. The Euro Stoxx 50 gained 0.19% at the start of the session, with Adyen up 1.24% at 9:02 am CET. The FTSE 100 increased 0.42% at the open, as Phoenix surged 6.04% at 9:03 am CET.
The euro traded 0.07% above the dollar at 8:59 am CET, selling for 1.06931. The pound was up 0.09% against the greenback to go for 1.22373 concurrently.
