Europe opens higher as earnings come in

Major European markets opened with gains on Thursday as investors awaited economic data, including Germany's inflation figures, and digested the latest batch of corporate earnings as Standard Chartered, Barclays, Sanofi, TotalEnergies and Unilever all reported their quarterly results before the bell.

The FTSE 100 rose 0.51% at 9:00 am CET with Ashtead surging 4.29%.

The DAX climbed 0.89% at 9:04 am CET. The best performer was Zalando, up 2.89%.

The CAC 40 jumped 1.17% at 9:00 am CET. Capgemini, up 3.30%, led the gains.

The euro lost 0.30% against the dollar to sell for 1.05233 at 9:01 am CET and the pound traded flat compared to the greenback, going for 1.25440 at the same time.
