Major European markets opened lower on Thursday. Investors today expect more corporate results, as well as additional political events.
During the day, the Bank of England will release its latest monetary policy report. In addition, EU leaders will discuss the proposed mid-term revision of the multiannual financial framework (MFF) 2021-2027 at the European Council, which includes the creation of a Ukraine Facility.
At 9:01 am CET, the French benchmark CAC 40 fell 0.20%, while Societe General decreased by 3.63%. The FTSE 100 was flat. One minute later, the pan-European Euro Stoxx 50 decreased by 0.51%, and Enel was leading the losses, declining by 1.44%. Finally, the German DAX lost 0.46% at 9:03 am CET, with Merck being the worst performer at the open, down 1.44%.
The euro and the British pound were down by 0.14% and 0.15% against the dollar at 8:57 am CET, selling for $1.07931 and $1.26552 simultaneously.
