Major European indexes opened mixed on Tuesday ahead of a slew of economic data releases, including inflation figures from the Eurozone and PMI manufacturing reported from across the continent. Investors also focused on the rising tensions in the Middle East as Israel launched a "limited" ground operation against Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon.
The Euro Stoxx 50 decreased by 0.16% at 9:01 am CET and the CAC 40 declined 0.16% at 9:00 am CET. Kering led the losses on both indexes, falling 2.41%.
The DAX was down 0.06% at 9:02 am CET. The worst performer was Muenchener Rueckversicherungs, whose stock lost 1.07%.
The FTSE 100 added 0.12% at 9:00 am CET. The best performer was Airtel Africa, whose shares jumped 1.84%.
The euro and the pound were both flat against the dollar, going for 1.11310 and 1.33686, respectively, at 9:03 am CET.
