Europe opens mostly higher with ECB, data in focus

Major stock market indexes in Europe opened mostly higher on Thursday in anticipation of the European Central Bank's newest decision on interest rates and the updates on the Eurozone's trade balance and inflation.

The DAX increased by 0.13% as Merck KGaA surged by 8.27% at 9:05 am CET. The CAC 40 rose by 0.27%, with Airbus SE gaining 1.74% at 9:05 am CET. The Eurostoxx 50 went up by 0.22% as Nordea Bank Abp grew by 4.72% at 9:06 am CET. Meanwhile, the FTSE 100 stood flat.

The euro lost 0.11% to the dollar at 8:58 am CET to sell for $1.08502. At that moment, the pound sterling fell by 0.07% against the United States currency to change hands for $1.29812.
