Major European stock indexes traded mostly lower at the open on Wednesday as investors were greeted with a new batch of corporate earnings. Deutsche Bank, Roche, and Lloyds all posted their quarterly results today, with many more businesses to reveal theirs as the week unravels.
The DAX lost 0.26% at the opening bell, as Deutsche Bank tumbled 2.84% at 9:01 am CET. At 9:00 am CET, the Euro Stoxx 50 declined 0.43%, with Adidas down 1.04% a minute later. The CAC 40 opened the day trading 0.56% lower, as L'Oreal slumped 3.13% at 9:02 am CET. The FTSE 100 was flat at the beginning of the session.
The euro edged down 0.07% against the dollar at 8:59 am CET, changing hands for 1.07929. At the same time, the pound traded 0.10% below the greenback, going for 1.29707.
