5.5 magnitude earthquake hits Ecuador

A 5.5-magnitude earthquake was recorded on Monday near the coast of Ecuador, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

It struck at a depth of about 60.5 kilometers, with an epicenter some 7 kilometers east northeast of Machala, which is home to over 198,000 people.

As of this moment, there are no reported damages, and no tsunami alert has been issued.
