The consumer confidence in the euro area (EA20) stood at negative 17.5 percentage points in April, improving by 1.6 percentage points from the figure recorded in the previous month, the European Commission revealed in its preliminary report released on Thursday.
For the entire European Union (EU27), the indicator went from negative 20.6 in March to negative 18.9 in April.
"Consumer confidence remains, however, well below its long-term average," the commission warned.
