Eurozone consumer confidence worsens in November

EPA-EFE/CHRISTIAN BRUNA

The European Commission said in its final report published on Thursday that the consumer confidence indicator in the Eurozone showed a slight worsening in November. The index was confirmed at negative 13.7 points in the Eurozone and negative 12.4 points in the EU, decreasing by 1.1 points and 1.2 points from October, respectively.

The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) increased by 0.1 points compared to the previous month to reach 95.8 in the euro area and rose by 0.2 points to 96.5 in the European Union. The Employment Expectations Indicator (EEI) dropped by 0.3 points to 98.9 in the Eurozone and by 0.5 points to 99.6 in the EU.

"The broadly stable ESI reflected higher confidence in industry and retail trade, which was offset by lower confidence in services and among consumers. Confidence in construction improved only marginally," it was noted in the report.
