Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan’s phone and electronics were seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after the betting platform predicted United States President-elect Donald Trump's win, The New York Post reported on Friday citing a source.

While the FBI didn't provide Coplan with any explanation, the source believes the reason was "political." "They could have asked his lawyer for any of these things. Instead, they staged a so-called raid so they can leak it to the media and use it for obvious political reasons," the source stated.

The source further shared that the reigning government probably wants to accuse Polymarket of market manipulation. A spokesperson for Polymarket underlined that the company is a "fully transparent prediction market that helps everyday people better understand the events that matter most to them, including elections."
