Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. (FCA) said it intends to defend itself from the "meritless" lawsuit by General Motors Company (GM) against it.

"We are astonished by this filing, both in its content and timing," FCA stated. "We intend to vigorously defend against this meritless lawsuit," the carmaker added.

Earlier, GM sued FCA for alleged racketeering. The lawsuit claims FCA bribed officials from the United Auto Workers (UAW) union with millions of dollars to get an advantage in negotiations over GM.
