Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Chairman Martin Gruenberg (pictured) communicated to employees through an email on Tuesday his plan to step down from his position on January 19.

"Earlier today I informed the President that I will retire as Chairman and Member of the Board of Directors of the GDIC effective January 19, 2025. It has been the greatest honor of my career to serve at the FDIC. I have especially valued the privilege of working with the dedicated public servants who carry out the critically important mission of this agency," the email read.

Back in late May, Gruenberg expressed his willingness to leave the agency following an external inquiry that uncovered instances of sexual harassment, discrimination, and bullying within the organization.
