The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Council postponed on Thursday a decision on whether or not to suspend the Israeli national football team but shared that it would carry out a probe.
The organization's Disciplinary Committee "will be mandated to initiate an investigation into the alleged offense of discrimination raised by the Palestine Football Association," it was written in a statement.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino stressed that the Council implemented "due diligence on this very sensitive matter and, based on a thorough assessment, we have followed the advice of the independent experts." He added that the events taking place in the Middle East are "extremely" shocking and called on all parties involved in the conflict to "restore peace."
