Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ukraine, the Indian Foreign Ministry confirmed on Monday.
The visit indicates New Delhi's attempt to balance its relationships amid ongoing geopolitical tensions after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin with the United States expressing concerns about the two leaders' proximity.
Though specific dates were not provided yet by the FM, Indian media reported that Modi's visit to Kiev will likely take place later this week, marking his first since the start of the Ukraine-Russia war. Before arriving in Kiev, he is scheduled to spend a day in Poland on August 21.
