Lebanon says it won't accept any delay in Israeli withdrawal

Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun has told Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty that his country will not accept any delay of Israeli forces from the Lebanese territory, the Lebanese presidency said in a statement on Friday.

Under the agreement between Lebanon and Israel that has recently been extended, Israeli troops must withdraw from Lebanese territory by February 18, and Aoun stressed that Beirut "rejects any delay under any pretext."

Earlier in the day, Palestinian media reported that overnight Israeli attacks in eastern Lebanon, in Beqaa Valley, left two people dead and ten others injured. Meanwhile, the Israeli military confirmed that it had struck the region, claiming that it had targeted tunnels used by Hezbollah operatives.
