The United Kingdom's FTSE 100 traded higher at the last trading session of the year on Friday, which was cut short due to holidays. The index reached its all-time high in February of this year, going above 8,000 points. On an annual basis, it rose 2.80%.
The FTSE 100 closed the shortened session trading 0.14% higher at 7,733.24 points. Standard Chartered was the best performer, increasing by 1.74%.
The pound traded 0.10% above the dollar at 1:29 pm CET, selling for 1.27447. Meanwhile, the British currency was flat against the euro at the same time, going for 1.15027. Year over year, the pound gained 5.61% against the American currency, and 1.69% against the European currency.
