Fed's Mester: Considering 50-75 bps rate hike in Sept.

Cleveland Fed President Loretta Mester said on Friday that she is considering voting for an interest rate hike of between 50 and 75 basis points at the upcoming FOMC meeting in September.

Mester agreed that the Fed needs to increase rates past 4% and leave them there for some time. The economy is still in negative real rates, she warned, adding that the US will likely face below-trend growth this year and in 2023.
