The Finnish government will be extending its measures to keep the border with Russia closed past January 15, the country's media outlet Iltalehti reported on Wednesday, citing government sources with knowledge on the matter.
Meanwhile, Helsingin Sanomat said that its sources shared that the decision is expected to be revealed on January 11, with the measures to be extended for one more month. One of the sources mentioned that there are currently no legal or political obstacles that would stop the government from making such a move.
The country started progressively closing its borders with Russia in November 2023.
